Solution for Wiring Up New Lights Where Wire Color Functions are Unknown

Question:

i recently bought a 2000 chevy truck with a catering bed on it, the tail lights are after market and do not work well. i bought the same after market lights to install. the colors do not match up. i have a total of 7 wires coming from the harness and 3 coming from the lights. on the lights is black, red, white. on the harness is 2 black, blue, a stripe, green, blue, what do i do??

Best option is going to be to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test all of the functions of the wires you have on the vehicle side since we don't have a wiring diagram for you to use and then wire them accordingly to the lights. You can also use a jumper wire from a battery's 12 volt post to test each of the wires of the light to see what illuminates as well.
