Idler Hubs to Replace Brake Drums on a Viking Pop-Up Camper with Dexter 8-173 Hubs

I have a viking popup with Dexter 8-173 hubs. It has electric brakes which I removed, dont need them. I am wondering if I can replace with this idler hub and not another drum hub. The old hub also used 4 stud bolts to secure tire. I like the idea of having the nuts instead. The axles are axleless independent. Thanks for the help

Your Viking Pop-up actually has a torsion axle, most likely a #9 based on the hub group of your trailer. You can replace those brake hubs with idler hubs, no problem! You can use idler hub # AKIHUB-440-2-2K. That is unless there are grease fittings at the ends of the axle. If that is the case you would need # AKIHUB-440-2-G-EZ-2K.

Both of the hubs above use bearing L44649 as the inner and outer bearing which is correct according to the specs on the 8-173 hubs from Dexter. Still I do recommend checking the bearing numbers stamped into the sides of your bearings to confirm.
