Preventing Water From Damaging Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera System

Question:

Im thinking of purchasing your hm50002 backup camera. Unfortunately, there are reviews which indicate that over time water gets into the camera unit resulting in failure of the system. Is there anything I could do to make the camera case more water tight? Thanks for your time.

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and HItch Aligner System # HM50002 features a camera that is designed to be used out in the elements. If you are worried about water getting into the license plate camera system over time, then using a clear sealant over the screws, where wires go into the unit, and around the entire casing will protect it even further. We have had customers do exactly this upon installation. If you live in a wet climate this is a great idea, otherwise the camera will do a nice job of holding up just fine to everyday use and weather. It does also come with a 1-year limited warranty.

I have attached an installation video that you can also use for reference.
