Recommended Bike Rack for Two Electric Bikes Weighing Over 65 lbs Each

Question:

I own two RAD ROVER ELECTRIC BIKES that I want to put on a rack. They weigh 66.5 lbs each and have 4inch FAT Tires. I really like theThule TH83JV Rack. Will it work with my bikes. Tule says the racks hold a maximum of 60 # per bike. I could take the batteries off since my batteries weigh 7.2 lbs. But I dont want to have to do that for transportation. Comments or Suggestions

There are bike racks that will be able to carry the weight of your two 66-1/2 lb RadRover Electric Bikes with fat tires, although as you mentioned the only way to use the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH83JV with bikes that heavy would be to remove the batteries.

For 66-1/2 lb bikes with 4 inch tires you have two options if you want to carry the bikes without removing the batteries.

The first option is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for Electric Fat Tire Bicycles # HLY84FR which has an 80 lb per bike capacity and fits tires that are up to 5 inches wide. It is a folding and tilting bike rack that also comes with both a hitch lock to secure the rack to your vehicle and locking frame hooks to secure your bikes to the rack.

Your other option is the Swagman E-Spec 2-Electric Bike Platform Rack # S94FR though you would have to add the Fat Tire Adapter Kit # S64679 to accommodate your 4" tires. The Swagman has a 70 lb per bike capacity and does come with a hitch lock to secure the rack to your vehicle.

I have added review videos of both racks for you to check out as well.

I have a 2016 Buick Encore, which is only allowed to have a 1 1/4" hitch. I recently purchased an ELux Fat Tire Tahoe GT step thru which weighs 71# without the battery. Do you have any suggestions for a bike rack that will work to carry just that bike. I have ordered the Holywood rack HR1455Z-E for my other vehicle to use with 2 bikes but it is not transferable to the Encore due to the hitch size. Hitch adapters are not allowed.

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1460Z-E will be perfect. It's compatible with 1-1/4" receivers (and 2" receivers) and can handle 2 bikes of up to 80 pounds each.

@ChrisR I called Hollywood racks and described the situation and what I needed and they never mentioned this, so I bought HR1455z-e for one car which will have a 2" hitch, and had to order a completely different one for this car. So I ended up buying 2 bikes rack for 2 cars instead of one that I could use on both. Cost me at least $500 more than it should have. Highly irritated and I don't even have it yet.
