Comparing Fastway and Weigh Safe Adjustable 2 Ball Mounts for a 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman

Question:

Read the reviews on this fastway flash e series hd hitch #42-00-2925. Do you recommend this hitch or weigh safe hitch for my vehicle? Mostly pulling 16 foot and 18 foot trailets. 18 foot trailer hauls l3400 kubota tractor and equipment attached, like 5 foot bushhog or 5 foot tiller, or 6 foot disk. Was looking at weigh safe 10 inch hitch, then saw this fastway hitch. Is either one better than other one? The one thing I read as a con was about movement and rattle. This possibly might cause excessive wear on hitch. Sounds like it might need better fitted tolerances. I appreciate your time and cooperation concerning this matter. Thanks,

If you plan on only hauling bigger trailers with your 2018 Ram 2500 then I recommend going with the Flash E Series HD Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # FA42-00-2925 for a few reasons. The first is that it has a higher weight rating than the Weigh Safe 180 Hitch 2-Ball Mount # LTB10-25, and the second being that you can add the lock set # FA86-00-3685 to lock the ball mount and the adjustable ball.

The Weigh Safe comes with a lock for the adjustable ball but you would need to use part # WS06 to get keyed alike locking pins. You also would want to add the cover # WS08 to keep the lock on the adjustable part protected from the elements. The Fastway locks comes with covers.

Really the only advantage that the Weigh Safe has over the Fastway is that you can use the 1-7/8"/2" hitch ball combo # TB03 for lighter trailers.

Most ball mounts will have a bit of play in the hitch receiver and that is just due to the difference in size from the shank to the receiver. No matter which one you choose you will most likely experience this. To keep this from happening (or being very noticeable) I recommend using the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-062 as long as your hitch receiver has a collar.
