Can Swagman Escapee Be Used with E-Bike with Fenders at Rear of 5th Wheel Trailer

I have 2 ebikes, one 60 lbs with 26inch tires, the other 48lbs with 20inch tires. I want to carry them on my 30ft 5th wheel, hitch no bumper. Swagman seems best option, BUT they both have fenders that can not be removed. Can the Escapee be used with bikes with short front fenders off front spoke? The fenders extend approx 5 beyond the sproket so theyd have to be locked it at a slight angle. Another option would be to quick release front tires and load that way, but that doesnt seem like it would work. Thanks!

I spoke with my contact at Swagman regarding the use of the Escapee 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64693 that you referenced with your e-bikes that have front fenders. He said that the padded hooks on the rack really should come down before the apex of the front wheel, ideally right up against the fork crown or front brake. Even with the short front fenders on your particular e-bikes my contact said this likely isn't the best rack option as the slight angle of the hooks can still potentially cause it to come free from the bike during travel. This is especially true with the rack mounted at the rear of a fifth-wheel trailer, as it will be subject to much more movement and bounce when compared to a standard passenger vehicle.

We do have other hitch-mounted bike racks available that are approved for use behind a trailer but the next highest-rated option is the Swagman Dispatch # S44FR. This is a frame mount platform rack so you won't have to worry about the fenders but it has a smaller weight capacity of 45 pounds per bike. If you are able to get under the capacity by removing the batteries on your e-bikes this will be your best solution. Unfortunately there is not another trailer-approved rack that has the same 60 pound capacity as the Escapee.

I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out.

I have a 2016 Volvo XC70. I think that I will put a 2" hitch, but the car is really a beefy station wagon. I am looking for a good bike rack for two ebikes that have fenders. One is an Aventon Level, which has an unusual frame. The Level with battery is about 60 lbs. The other bike is about 50 lbs. What bike rack can I get to fit my needs? 96671

Going with the 2" Draw-Tite # 75916 is definitely the right call. For a bike rack I recommend going with the Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack # Y36FR because it comes with a ramp for easier loading and uses clamps to secure bikes with different frame styles. 71326
