Adding 12V Power Socket to Travel Trailer to Power DVD or Inverter for Phone Charging

Question:

Hopkins 12-Volt Power Socket with Power Wire and Fuse Assembly Hello, Im looking at purchasing this 12volt power socket to add an AC socket to my travel Trailer no AC port/cigarette lighter in the trailer. I would use this to run DVD, small fans, and connect a small portbale inverter for iphone charging while Im dry camping. 1st question- does this sound like the easiest and economical way to add an ac port, and ultimately a small portable inverter for light use? 2nd question - is there any risk attaching this power socket to my Trailer battery while also having a solar panel attached to the battery?

The Hopkins 12-Volt Power Socket # HM55115 that you referenced is a perfect solution for what you are wanting to do. This will mount anywhere you want it to in your trailer and it includes a 17 foot long power wire and fuse assembly that you can run to the battery. This is indeed the easiest and most economical way to add a permanent DC port to your trailer and it will work great to provide power to the accessories you mentioned. There is not an issue connecting this to your battery that also has a solar panel attached.

I have also attached an installation video on this power socket that you can use for reference.
