Comparison of Trailer Wiring Harnesses Available for the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe and Routing the 4-Way

Is there a benefit of 118415 to 118258? And can the 415 go outside the vehicle as the 258 does?

As far as towing a trailer goes, there is not an advantage or disadvantage between the Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, # 118258, and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118415, for the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. Both harnesses are capable of the same amount of amperage for trailer lighting.

The difference between these harnesses is that if you have a damaged factory wiring harness the Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, # 118258, will be the correct replacement for your vehicle. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118415, is designed for vehicles that do not have the factory trailer wiring, so you will need to select the correct harness based on how your vehicle was equipped from the factory.

To run the T-One harness to the outside of the Santa Fe you should be able to find a rubber grommet in the bottom of the rear hatch area. I have attached a video, see 1 minute 50 second mark, showing one of our installations where we utilize an existing grommet to run the 4-Way wiring outside the vehicle. The vehicle is different but the principle is the same. You would then need some Silicone Gasket Maker, # LT37464, to seal the cut in the grommet. Then you would need to secure the 4-Way connector at the rear of the vehicle. A 4 pole mounting bracket, # 18144, and a No-Drill Mount Bracket, # 18140, would work well to attach the wiring to the hitch without drilling.

If you find that there is not a grommet large enough to run the 4-Way connector through, or you would like to cut a smaller hole in an existing grommet, you could cut the connector off, leaving enough wire to reconnect, run the cut end through the grommet and then solder the connections back together.
