Blue Ox Weigth Distribution System Recommendation for Trailer with 550 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

Will the BXW1000, will 1000lbs spring bars work without damaging the trailer, if after packing my trailer, etc the tongue weight is only 550lbs below the 750-1000lb rating? My trailer weight should be 5000 - 6500lbs. But this is a large swing, with the swing increased by the 10-15 total weight as tongue weight. I would like the 1000lb spring bars in case after packing my tongue weight is on the high end. I dont see a min weight directly on the Blue Ox website, just etrailer. Trailer is a 2016 Flagstaff Shamrock 21ss. Thanks.

If your trailer has a swing away hinge you won't be able to use a weight distribution system with it. I am not totally sure if that's what you meant but I figured I'd mention that. When picking out a weight distribution system the tongue weight has to fall into the range of the system. If your loaded tongue weight is 550 lbs you'd need a lower rated system than the # BXW1000 that you referenced. Instead you'd want the Blue Ox part # BXW0756 which has a range that's between 550 and 750. You also need to factor in any weight behind the rear axle of the vehicle as cargo weight.
