Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to Rear of Dump Trailer

Question:

Hello, I have a dump trailer that Ill be towing behind my truck, which is the round 7-pole connector to my truck. Ill be towing my enclosed trailer behind the dump trailer, which also has a 7-pole connector. I need to somehow get a female truck side connector wired up to the back of my dump trailer, so I can connect my enclosed trailers male end to the dump trailer. Both trailers have brakes that I would prefer to work while towing in this configuration. Any help with what color wires do what would be very helpful, as well. Thanks,

What you are going to need is the 7-way socket and lead part number # PK11898 which comes with the wiring you'd need to tap into your trailer wiring as well as a bracket to mount the 7-way. You'd wire the 7-way to your trailer wiring using the following as a guide for what the 7-way has:

Red - Left Turn and Stop - 14 gauge
White - Ground - 10 gauge
Blue - Electric Brakes - 12 gauge
Green - Right Turn and Stop - 14 gauge
Black - Battery - 12 gauge
Brown - Running Lamps - 14 gauge
Yellow - Backup Lamps - 14 gauge

Determining the correct wiring for the trailer to the 7-way can be done by tracing the wires to each of the taillight functions on your trailer or by using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the wiring and determine function.
