Availability of Tailgate Bar for 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Will this tailgate fit my 1997 jeep wranger soft top???

The Bestop Replacement Tailgate Bar, part # B5260101, you have referenced is for a 2007 to 2009 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. This part is just the bar that runs across the top of the tailgate and gives you an attachment point for the rear window of a Trektop soft top # B5680435. This bar allows you to open the tailgate of your Jeep without opening or removing the rear window. It does not fit a 1997 Jeep Wrangler.

For your 1997 Jeep Wrangler you need the Bestop Replacement Tailgate Bar, part # B5260201. This bar will give you an attachment point for the rear window of your Trektop soft top.

I spoke with my contact at Bestop and they said it is designed for the Trektop soft tops, but it does work with the factory Jeep soft top.
