Troubleshooting Camco Rhinoflex Sewer Hose that Came Apart at Locking Ring
Question:
Hi the 2nd time I used this it came apart at the locking ring - nothing but sealant of some sort holding it together. I am solo woman and just had a nasty accident when doing black tank flush. Is this thing toast ? Why is it made to come apart? I like the whole design with end caps and expanding etc but how do I prevent this and do I need to fix with large hose clamps ? It was very cold in OR was that the cause. Not a happy camper. Thx for advice.

I'm sorry for that horrible experience that would make anyone an unhappy camper. The RhinoFLEX RV Sewer Hose Extension w/ Swivel Lug and Bayonet Fittings - 5' Long # CAM39765 has a locking ring as you mentioned that has the directions for use printed right on it. It sounds like the locking ring fitting it to the hose was not secured properly and was most likely why it came apart. This system is designed so that you can replace the hose and keep the fittings if ever needed. Cold should not have been the cause, but cold does contract so if it was on the edge of being loose could make it easier for it to come completely loose. When locked properly cold should not be an issue. I've attached a video to assist
If you don't want to deal with the locking seal again, you may simply want to use a hose without that option like the Dominator RV Sewer Hose w/ 3" Bayonet Fitting and Swivel Fitting - Black - Poly - 5' # D04-0205.
