Question:
Hello! I bought and installed a 1.25” Curt hitch on my 2015 VW Golf GTi a couple of years ago. At that time there were no other hitches available. I’ve noticed that my hitch drags more often that I would like it to. Would the Draw-Tite or the Eco-Hitch give me some more clearance? FYI, I use the hitch for a bike rack and have no plans to tow anything. Thanks!

Although we didn't have a chance to install the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11412 that you currently own on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, I can say that we installed the EcoHitch # 306-X7310 that has a 1-1/4" receiver and found that from the ground to the top of the inside of the receiver it measures 12".
This should provide some extra clearance but you can verify exactly how much by taking this same measurement and comparing it to your current Curt receiver location. Even if the Draw-Tite # 24925 provides more clearance I wouldn't go with it because it has a weld tab towards the rear that prohibits the use of some products with a 1-1/4" shank.
If you have an adapter for your bike rack that allows you to install it in a 2" receiver then I recommend going with the EcoHitch # 306-X7309 instead as a 2" receiver is more versatile and will have about the same clearance as the 1-1/4" receiver version.
