Compatible Tonneau Cover and Ladder Rack for 2008 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2-Foot Bed

Question:

Hi- I’m interested in purchasing a rack that will fit my ‘08 Ford F-150 XLT Supercrew pickup with Truxedo part TX577601 installed. I don’t need to carry much weight on the rack, so it doesn’t need to be heavy duty—inexpensive and secure would be great. Also, I believe I have the plastic bed rails on the truck and don’t see stake pocket holes in them. Any advice for me? Thank you in advance.

Most aftermarket tonneau covers and ladders racks are not compatible with each other when installed on the same vehicle. Most often this is due to them using the same mounting points, or similar mounting points that interfere with the installation or operation of the other item.

The tonneau cover and ladder rack combination that is known to work well consists of the BAK Revolver cover and the Thule TracRac SR Sliding ladder rack. These products can both install and function correctly on your F-150.

For your 2008 Ford F-150 5-1/2-foot bed without the Bed Cargo Management System the BAK covers that will work with the TracRac SR are the Revolver X2 # BAK39309 and the Revolver X4s # BAK67ZR. Either of these tonneau covers will be compatible with the TracRac ladder rack # TH43002XT-508 or the same rack with over-the-cab extension # TH43002XT-508EX.
