Trailer Wiring Upgrade for Dodge Truck from 4-Way to 7-Way to Pull Trailer with 7-Way Connection

Question:

Hi: My cargo trailer has the rv style electrical cylinder connector 6 slots with a seventh center pole attached to it. Works fine with my new F-150, but later this month we will need the trailer to be used with my friends old Dodge truck. His truck only has the rectangular 4 way receptacle. Is there a converter from an rv cylinder style connector to a rectangular 4way ? Thank you!

For your friend's Dodge with 4-way flat, you will need the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185. This will simply connect to the 4-way flat giving you the functions of running lights as well as brake lights and turn signals on the trailer. You will need to connect the grounded ring terminal wire for these functions to a bare metal surface.

What it will not have unless you connect the remaining 3 wires on the adapter is the electric trailer brakes (blue wire), reverse lights (purple wire), and 12v power wire (black wire). If your trailer requires these functions, then you will also need the wiring kit # 5506 and a brake controller like # 39510. If you want a nicer controller yet, I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 which has the LCD screen for better diagnostic information.
