Question:
This Curt tow bar is less than $100 and the others for my 2007 VW new beetle are $400 to 600+. So why use this one versus the more expensive ones? Advantages of the more expensive ones to justify the bigger price. Thanks

I really wouldn't ever recommend the Curt tow bar # C19745 unless it was a one time use situation and the person was okay with drilling holes in the front bumper of the vehicle. It's also very difficult to connect and disconnect.
If you went with a much nicer Roadmaster like the Falcon All Terrain part # RM-522 you can use a base plate kit that mounts directly to the frame of your 2007 Volkswagen New Beetle like the Roadmaster EZ part # 521232-1 which has removable arms and provides a much better and safer connection. Especially on a vehicle like yours where the front bumper isn't flat and is also not rated for towing with.
The Falcon also has non-binding arms which help a lot to make connecting/disconnecting as easy as possible. I also attached a help article link that covers the nicer features of the Roadmaster tow bars as well.
Also check your owners manual for any flat towing restrictions as well.
