Bike Rack Needed to Carry Fat Tire eBike and Clear Spare on 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

Are their any fat tire ebike racks that will fit a Jeep carrying its spare tire. Seems all the racks show tow hitch but not carrying a spare tire. Thanks

We have the perfect solution for you with the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10002. This is a swinging, wheel mount bike rack that has a bike weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike and can accommodate tires up to 5" wide. If you want to verify that your bike will fit behind the spare tire on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited then simply measure 9-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch. The tray for the closest bike sits slightly over 9-1/2" away so this helps you determine about how much room you will have.

The best feature of this platform rack is the swinging capability. This action gives you the flexibility to access your rear cargo area without having to unload your bike or your bike rack! I have attached a review video of this bike rack on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that you can reference as well.

Question:

I am still doing a little research on bike racks for my ebikes. My radrover is 61lbs without the battery My rad stepthru is 58lbd w/o the battery. I was looking at the Hollywood sports rider SE ( for the weigh it can handle) Now the move important question is that I would like to attach it to a swaying away extension.I know I need to get adapter for the fat tire. Would the Yakima backswing work with this rack? My hitch is 2”

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR is a fantastic option since your RadRover weighs more than what the RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 is rated for.

The Yakima BackSwing Swing Away # Y02483 is compatible with the Sport Rider SE and will give you the clearance that you need. It comes with anti-rattle locking hitch pins, has a weight capacity of 250 lbs, and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Please note that these do count as extenders as well so they reduce the weight capacity of your 2" hitch receiver by 50%. If you go with the Yakima your total weight is 206 lbs. Just be sure that either of these doesn't exceed the weight capacity of your hitch receiver when it is cut in half.
