Replacing 3,000 Pound Torsion Axles with Timbren Axle-Less System on Dual Axle Trailer  


I currently have a dual axle trailer, the front non-braking axleboth of which are a torsion axle is bent and the only replacement available would be an axle less due to the uniqeness of the trailer. My GVWR is 6000 lbs which i take to mean each existing axle is rated for 3000lbs and that a 3500lb replacement is the correct choice. my second question is with regards to the deflection. When sitting in a static position, the spindle measures almost exactly 2inch below the frame of the trailer, which seems to be what the straight 3500lb axle-less option is designed for. I honestly just want to make sure i purchase the right option and eliminate any complications thank you for your time.

Replacing the torsion axles on your trailer with the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System is a great idea. For your 6,000 pound GVWR trailer you will indeed want to go with two 3,500 pound assemblies.

The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR3500S05 that you were looking at will work perfectly. When the units are installed the center of the spindle is going to sit exactly 2-13/16 inches from the bottom of the trailer frame, which will just give you a tiny bit more ground clearance compared to what you currently have.

These independent suspension units can eliminate the need for a thru axle altogether and they will bolt right to the trailer's frame. I have attached a sample installation video just so you can get a better idea of the process.

As long as your current hubs use the # L68149 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing you will be able to move them to the new spindles. Otherwise you can use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 84545UC1-EZ or the Hub and Drum # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K as long as your wheels have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
