It sounds like you are trying to install trailer lights on your 2000 Ford F-150? This is not something I recommend doing and you should stick with automotive lights, but if you do decide to do it, trailer lights will need to splice into wires on your truck so you need to find the wires in your Ford that accompany each function by using a circuit tester such as # PTW2979.

You will then need to connect those wires to the wires on the trailer light. For example, the Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light # STL68RB has four functions: stop light, turn signal, tail light, backup light. The brown wire on this light is the backup light, the red wire is the brake light, the black wire is the tail light and the white wire is the ground. You can use Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05743-10 for the wires.

I have added a link to a help article on trailer wiring for you to check out which has some more specifics.
