Recommendations for Exhaust Sound on 2002 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8 Triton Short Bed SuperCrew
Question:
Will a exhaust tip added to a factory exhaust system on my truck add sound? And would it sound right? What brand/model do you recommend to make my truck sound aggressive, loud, and deep kinda like a diesel. I have a 2002 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8 Triton Short -Bed SuperCrew

Adding an exhaust tip like the MagnaFlow 4" Exhaust Tip - Stainless, Clamp-On for 2-3/4" - 3" Tailpipe # MF35212 to your 2002 Ford F-150 won't drastically change the sound but it will make a difference. It will make your exhaust louder because the cone shape is like a cheerleader megaphone to amplify the sound waves so it will sound a little more aggressive but it won't really change the depth of tone much. If you want louder this will definitely help.
If you want the deeper rumble, then you will need to upgrade the other components of your exhaust. I recommend the MagnaFlow Stainless Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System - Gas # MF15609 which is a confirmed fit for your 2002 Ford F-150 Lariat 5.4L V8 Triton Short -Bed SuperCrew. This will improve the sound and performance of your truck. I've attached the manufacturer chart to show you the differences. You can see a large difference on the very front end and more consistent power throughout.
