Is Brake Lite Relay Needed When Installing Bulb and Socket Kit on 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid
Question:
Do I need a brake light relay kit while using the RM 152 LED Lite Kit? I plan on using an RVi Brake 3 supplemental brake system. The Escapes tail lights come on whenever the brake pedal is depressed even with the ignition in OFF. I wanted to use the LED lite kit for all lighting purposes, but wasnt sure the turn signals would still be visible with the brake depressed. Other wiring systems that tap into the Escape wiring requires the use of a Brake-lite relay kit. Thank You.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, since your braking system presses the brake pedal of your 2009 Ford Escape and the brake lights come one with the ignition off you need to use a brake lite relay part # RM-88400 so that the LED bulb and socket kit part # RM-152-LED turn signals will still work when the brakes are applied.
