How To Tow A Trailer Without Measuring for Rise/Drop

Question:

Thanks for your response Conner. I do know that I will need a 2" ball - is there something more cost effective with only needing the one size ball?

The only true way to determine what ball mount you need is to measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube on the vehicle and then subtract the difference from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on the trailer while level. However, if you do not have access to the trailer then the best option for you is an adjustable ball mount as this will not only more than likely allow you to tow your boat trailer level without measuring beforehand but will also accommodate tons of other trailers.

I recommend the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount part # C45900 which should be a perfect fit for your 2016 Ford F-150. This also comes with two hitch balls (2" and 2-5/16"). If you know what hitch ball you need then we might have a more cost effective option for you but it will more than likely be one of the above two unless it is a very small boat/trailer.

I have attached a review video of the Curt Adjustable Ball Mount for you as well.

The most cost effective adjustable ball mount that I think will work for you is the Convert-a-Ball Adjustable-Height Ball Mount part # TK5007. In order to add a 2" hitch ball you can use part # 63845 but don't forget the pin as well, part # PC3.
