Expert Reply:

The towing and tongue weight capacity of the Curt Ball Mount # C45338 does not change if you use it in the rise position; it has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and towing capacity of 10,000 lbs no matter if you use it to get 8-1/4 inches of drop or 7 inches of rise.

Keep in mind your capacity is limited to that of your truck and hitch receiver. For example, the Curt Trailer Hitch # C14006 for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 also has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and towing capacity of 10,000 lbs but the Draw-Tite Hitch # 76016 has a 900 lb tongue weight capacity and 6,000 lb towing capacity so you would be limited to that, no matter what ball mount you used. Additionally you need to know the capacities of your Silverado, which will vary depending on a number of factors but can be found in your owner's manual.

For a hitch ball to use the Curt Ball Mount # C45338 you can use 2" Hitch Ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40036. To mount the ball mount in your hitch you will need Pin and Clip # C21500 or if you want to lock it in the hitch you will need Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880.
