Are The Light Truck Tires On My Cadillac Escalade Rated For Towing A Trailer

Hello, Im confused how my 07 Cadillac is able to tow 8100 lbs trailer weight and the weight of my SUV is 5500 lbs and my 22in tire rating that is LT is rated for 2600 lbs each, the math doesnt add up to carry all this weight since Im towing 6000 ls weight trailer not including 1000 lbs give or take extra weight. Really concern and will like some expert advise please? LT 22in tire weight capacity 2600 x 4= 10,400 vehicle weight= 5,500 max towing capacity trailer weight= 8,100 Vehicle and trailer weight = 13,600 Is this save to tow with this tire weight rapacity? I towed with it once and was fine but concern of blow outs, please advise ? thank you, Edgar

If your light truck tires are rated for 2600 lbs each then towing the 7,000 lb trailer is fine as long as the trailer's weight is less than the Cadillac's towing capacity. The trailer has its own tires so the weight of the trailer is not all on the vehicle tires. When you are considering vehicle tire capacity you want to consider the gross vehicle weight rating of the Cadillac. The GVWR is the weight of cargo, passengers and anything added to vehicle excluding the trailer. The tongue weight of the trailer is factored into the GVWR but is not a problem for you because it is normally around 10-15 percent of the loaded trailer weight. Since your tongue weight is between about 700-1000 lbs and your vehicle weighs 5,500 lbs itself, plus passengers and cargo, the vehicle tires are efficient for towing.

Basically, you just need to make sure the tires are rated to handle the GVWR of the Escalade and your trailer is within the vehicle's towing capacity to be safe.
