Question:
I have a Cam Slimeline AG Dump Woodsman trailer for towing behind smaller vehicles. They dont make them any longer and information is extremely scarce. I want to add electric brakes to the trailer. My 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan currently has a 4-prong wiring harness. What I have been able to figure out so far is the trailer has a 3500k idler axle with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. For what it is worth I also have ST205/75D15 tires and rims. Would you have any suggestions what I need parts I would need to purchase in order to add electric brakes? Thanks, cheers,

The first thing to check on the trailer is if it has brake mounting flanges. A brake mounting flange is welded to the axle/spindle and holds the brake assembly. For an example of what this looks like check out spindle # TRU74FR or # TRU37FR.
If your trailer does not have brake mounting flanges you could have some welded on but it is a precision job that requires a professional welder with experience in welding on brake flanges. The easiest solution would be to replace the axle with one that has brake mounting flanges.
If the trailer does have the flanges then to determine what brakes will fit I would need to know the inner and outer bearing numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings and the bolt pattern of the wheels. With that information I can determine which hub and drum assemblies fit and from there which brake assemblies will fit.
For electric brakes you will also need to convert the trailer to a 7-Way connector using a harness such as # e99011 and the tow vehicle will also need to have a 7-Way and a brake controller.
On your tow vehicle you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
