4-Bike Rack That Is Easy to Remove From Hitch

Question:

Greetings, I have a Draw tite hitch on an Audi Q5,with a Thule Trailway 959 attached. Was wondering if there are any aftermarket options for quick release from the hitch instead of the the single threaded bolt that came with?

The Thule Trailway 959, which is essentially the big box store version of the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR does not have an option for a quick release from the hitch, it does require the use of the threaded hitch bolt.

Your question is very understandable because those threaded bolts are less than convenient. There are racks similar to your Trailway which will work and do not require the use of a threaded hitch bolt, including the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458.

This is a very easy-to-use and highly functional but economical rack that will be much quicker to release from the hitch on your Audi Q5 than your current rack. The DoubleDown Ace has a "SpeedKnob" that allows you to tighten and remove the hitch without the threaded hitch pin.

The RidgeBack # Y0245 secures your bikes at three different points to keep them absolutely steady and is extremely well-built with galvanized steel; it is so sturdy this rack even comes with a lifetime warranty so it could be the last bike rack you ever need. Additionally, this rack does come with an integrated lock to keep the rack securely in your hitch and help protect your investment. You can also add the Yakima HandCuff Cable Lock for RidgeBack # Y02466 to secure your bikes to the rack.

The only thing to keep in mind is that when using any hanging rack like the RigeBack you'll need bike frame adapter bar # Y02531 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.

I've added links to a video review of this rack for you to check out.
