Will Curt Trailer Hitch and Cargo Carrier Work on Trailer With 4 Inch Bumper
Question:
Hello, I am looking to add extra traveling storage to my 2017 Keystone Cougar 26RLS. It has the 4 inch metal rear bumper. I see curt makes a bumper mount 2 inch hitch receiver for RVs that looks very sturdy. I am wondering if this carrier and the hitch receiver would do the job? While I know the capacity of this carrier is 500lbs, I understand that an RV bumper may not hold that much weight. I am looking at carrying on the carrier max 200lbs. Is this a viable option for me? Thanks

The Stromberg Carlson Cargo Carrier # CC-100 can absolutely be used with a Curt bumper mounted hitch on your 2017 Keystone Cougar 26RLS to carry a max of 200 lbs of cargo.
Since you mentioned you have a 4 inch metal bumper the correct hitch is likely the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch # E-100 which is a fit for a 4" x 4" square bumper; the Curt RV Bumper Hitch # C19101 is the other bumper mounted hitch for RVs and is for use with 2" x 4" RV bumpers so you will want to use the one that fits your bumper dimensions.
Either of these will allow the use of the Cargo Carrier # CC-100 to haul your gear, and for a cargo bag I highly recommend the Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier # C18211 because it is waterproof so no moisture will seep into the bag and it has integrated tie-down straps to keep it mounted tightly on your cargo carrier. To secure the # CC-100 to your hitch you will also need Pin and Clip # C21500.
For gear that just needs to be tied down a great option is the CargoBuckle Cam Buckle Tie-Down Straps # IMF12637.
