Replacement Suspension Options For A 1967 Dual Axle Silver Streak

Question:

HI, I HAVE 1967 DUAL AXLE SILVER STREAK. I HAD IT WEIGHED AT 4700LBS DRY. DO YOU HAVE REPLACEMENT LEAF SPRINGS OR CAN I REPLACE THE DUAL AXLE SETUP WITH A SINGLE TIMBREN 5200LB SETUP?

To replace the leaf spring on your 1967 Dual Axle Silver Streak trailer you need to know the length of the leaf spring from center of one eye to the center of the other eye. Leaf springs tend to flatten out over time so take into consideration the springs may be about a half inch longer than they were originally. If the leaf spring is a slipper spring you can measure from the center of the eye at the end of the spring to the tip of the slipper spring. You also need to know the weight capacity of the axle to find the correct springs. Usually that information is on a sticker on the axle or stamped into the metal. I have attached a link to the leaf springs we offer.

I do not recommend replacing the dual axle setup with a single 5200 lb Timbren setup because the Silver Streak was designed with two axles to distribute the weight of the trailer. If you would like to use the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System I recommend adding two sets of 3,500 lb Timbren Axle-Less suspension systems part # ASR3500S05.

The Timbren spindles are compatible with part # L68149 inner and part # L44649 outer bearings. If your existing hubs have these bearings you can use them with the Timbren setup. If your existing hubs do not have these bearings you need part # AKHD-545-35-K to fit the spindles of the Timbren system. You would also need a wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern if you do not already have them. I have attached a link the wheels with the 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern we have available.
