Can this 5th wheel be locked in position for use in long bed? can I modify it so it dosent slide. pulling it out of shortbed and putting in long bed pickup.

It's okay to use a slider hitch in a long bed truck and still have the hitch slide back around tight turns. While the additional turning clearance is not required it won't hurt anything. So you can use the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 you referenced in the bed of your new truck and wouldn't have to try to bypass the sliding feature. Which there isn't a recommended way to do that but if you removed the side plates that hold the threaded brackets that press against the pin box the head would not longer be locked to the pin box.
