Wiring to Brakes on Trailer Being Double Towed

Fifth wheel RV double pulling. I have brakes on fifth wheel RV, how do you get brakes to Second trailer .

Expert Reply:

To get brakes to your second trailer you will want to use 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # 277-000141 on your second trailer, using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to run from the junction box to your brakes. On the rear of your fifth wheel you are going to want to use 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Sockets w/ Mounting Bracket and Wiring # HM40975-11998 as a way to connect the two trailers.

Also, keep in mind brake controllers recognize the number of axles braked so you will need something like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 which will provide braking to all four of your axles.

As a note, I did want to mention to be sure to check your local laws concerning the length of your towing set up it varies by state with some being more restrictive on how long your set up can be.
