Remote Operated Brake Controller for Gooseneck Trailer with Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
Question:
I haul a 35foot gooseneck trailer with 15,000 payload that is equipped with electric over hydraulic disc brakes. I want to be able to rent a daycab tractor equipped with air brakes to haul my trailer. Since this is a temporary scenario, I do not wish to hardwire a controller into place. What remote controller options do I have?

We do not offer a remote brake controller option that will work with the Carlisle HydraStar disc brake actuator you referenced.
The most cost-effective option would be to bite the bullet and temporarily install a brake controller in the rental truck that is compatible with electric/hydraulic brakes like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885.
This would involve some wiring, such as tapping into the brake light circuits, and running a power and ground wire to the battery. You would also have to run a brake output wire back to the rear of the truck. You would also need an adapter like part # HM47425 to convert the 7-way round pin connector on the road tractor to the RV-style 7-way blade connector typically found on a gooseneck trailer. If this is a one-time deal, this is the route I would take.
If you might have to do this again in the future, I think you would be better off replacing the existing actuator on the trailer for the Titan Disc Brake Kit and BrakeRite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator, part # T4843800. The kit includes the in-cab controller, control module, wiring harness, breakaway switch and breakaway battery harness, but the break-away battery is sold separately as part # T4822100.
