Location of Hitch Pin Hole on Draw-Tite Hitch 24947 for Chevy Volt

Question:

You say on the site somewhere that this Volt hitch is 5.5 inches from the center of the hole to the edge of the car. How far back is the hole from the end of the hitch? It looks like its at least an inch in. A more useful measurement would be the distance from the flush end of the hitch to the edge of the car. From that I can measure if my current bike rack will clear the car. Thanks!

In our install video for Draw-Tite Hitch # 24947 we do note that when installed on the 2017 Volt shown in the video the center of the hitch pin hole was 5-1/4-inches forward of the rear edge of the bumper cover. That video is linked for reference; please refer to the 1:17 mark.

The hitch pin hole is used as the referenced point since bike rack makers also use this point to express their racks' clearance requirement dimension. For instance, if your hitch bike rack's hitch pin hole were to be 6-1/4-inches forward of the nearest part of the carrier this would mean that there is a 1-inch clearance margin between the rack and bumper cover when installed in this hitch.

I took the measurement you asked for; the center of the hitch pin hole is 2-1/4-inches from the exposed end of the receiver tube as shown in the photo I prepared for you.
