Troubleshooting Electric Brakes Lock Up On One Side

Howdy, I have a dual 3500# axle flat trailer for Jeep transport. The rear axle features electric brake drums. On the passenger side I noticed the wheel squealing and smoking when stopping. I adjusted the star wheel to loosen that side and it worked fine for about 3 miles then started locking up Just as bad after awhile, there seemed to be a gradual worsening each time I hit the brakes. What would the next step be? Could the actuator/adjustor be damaged/broken? I assume this eliminates the magnets/pads/circuitry from being part of the problem.

If just one of your electric brakes is locking up, and it isn't a short, the issue is likely with the suspension of your trailer. There could be an issue with the hubs or spindle being damaged so you will want to remove your hub and check it for damage, then check the bearings and spindle to make sure there are no issues in that regard. It is likely this is the problem so you will need to replace the hub.

You can do this by taking a look at the bearing numbers on the actual bearings and you can find the hub that way. I have added a link to our selection of hub and drum assemblies or you can let me know what your bearing numbers are and I can find the right hub for you.
