Troubleshooting Curt TriFlex Brake Controller No Longer Working
Question:
I purchased the Curt Triflex from you last year and it worked great until just last week. For a day or two I only had two dashes on the display that did not flash. I unplugged the controller and plugged it back in and since then the display shows one dot when not braking and the output number flashing when I brake. When the trailer is plugged in it does the same thing and no brake power is applied on the trailer when I hit the truck brake pedal. Any idea how I can correct this?

The issues you're describing sound like there could be an internal malfunction on your Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV. The easiest way to test this is to sever the blue wire a few inches back from the controller itself. Then use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test this wire from the back of the TriFlex to see if you get power when applying the manual override.
If you don't get power, or get power at any other point other than when applying the override, then the controller has an internal issue and it will need to be replaced. The TriFlex does come with a limited lifetime warranty if this is the case.
If the blue wire behaves like normal, only getting power with the manual override applied, then there is likely a wiring issue on the vehicle. I recommend trying to trace this blue brake output wire as far back as you can towards the 7-Way to see if you can find any pinched or exposed areas that need to be replaced. Also inspect the 7-Way connector itself for any debris or corrosion around the pins that needs to be cleaned out.
