Solution for Curt Double Lock Hitch Where Hitch Ball Falls Through Center Section

Question:

What holds the ball in place/stops it from falling all the way through the hole while you go to release the handle? when we first got this installed it would stay up on its own, but now, for whatever reason, it falls right through to the bottom. I was told there used to be some sort of pin that came through the passenger side to hold it slightly, but when looking in the hole, nothing can be seen.

Sounds like you lost the release handle of your Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch or there is an internal problem with the head. Your best option will be to replace the center section with part # C60607 which will fix your issue and gives you an all new mechanism.
