Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and Minimum and Maximum Towing Capacities

Hi I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LTZ 4 wheel drive truck Question can my above truck pull safely a 2017 Avalanche 5th wheel that weights dry 11,487, and hitch weight 2,365, thank you

The fifth wheel towing capacity of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will depend not only on if you have 4WD but also your engine, cab size, bed size and axle ratio, though you didn't mention those specifically so what I can do is give you some ranges. Your truck's capacity will be anywhere from 13,800 lbs on the low end for a Crew Cab V8 gas engine with a long bed and 4.10 axle ratio to a max of 17,600 lbs for a Regular Cab with a long bed, V8 diesel and 3.73 axle ratio. You should check your copy of the owner's manual to determine exactly how much your model can tow.

To tow a fifth wheel you will need a hitch and base rails, either a sliding hitch if you have a 6-1/2 foot bed or a fixed hitch for an 8 foot bed.

The 5th wheel hitch I strongly recommend is the B&W Patriot # BWRVK3270 for the sliding model or # BWRVK3255 for the fixed model because of the Patriot's impressive jaw system which feature robust 3/4" thick dual jaws that ensure complete contact with your trailer's king pin. This is extremely important because a hitch with a lesser jaw system that doesn't fully engage the king pin on your fifth wheel will not only be noisy, but your ride will also be uncomfortable because of the back-and-forth movement that will occur. The Patriot also has cushioned bushings which further enhance the comfort of your ride and both the sliding and fixed models have an 18,000 lb capacity, are made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty.

Mounting the hitch in your Silverado will require base rails and for that you will want to use the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWRVK2506 which fits your 2015 Silverado 2500HD no matter if you have a short bed or long bed. This kit does not require drilling into your truck's frame to install, which is not only great for your truck and greatly reduces the amount of installation time. Finally, for 5th wheel wiring to power your trailer's lights you will need the Draw-Tite 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness 7-Pole # 20110

I have added links to a number of video reviews for you to check out as well.
