I have the Eaz Lift Recurve R6 Hitch with the automatic sway control. It has the option to lock it. What are some reasons for locking sway option?

The Eaz-Lift Recurve R6 weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) hitch system 48734 can be fitted with a hitch lock like # e98880 to secure its shank in the vehicle hitch receiver but according to my contact at the manufacturer (Camco) there is no other provision for locking any other components in this system. We do not carry the Recurve but we do have systems from other makers like Reese who produces the Strait-Line systems such as # RP66074 that you referenced.
Selecting the right WD/SC setup requires knowing your trailer's actual fully-loaded tongue weight (TW) as well as the weight of any cargo in the tow vehicle that sits behind the rear axle. Trailer TW measurement is made easy with the etrailer scale # e99044. Ideally your total weight figure will fall near the middle of the system's operating range. The Reese system # RP66074, for example, works over a TW range from 600- to 1200-lbs so it would ideal for a total trailer TW in the area of 900-lbs.
