Looking for the Perfect 4 Bike Rack for a 2011 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hi there, Im looking for the perfect bike rack for my 2 inch hitch for my 2011 Honda Odessey. We will carry up to 4 bikes. One of the key things that I need is that the rack mounts easily and quickly to the car, preferably without tools, as I will have to remove it when I want to park it in the garage. 2 of the bikes are not standard size, they are kids bikes. But the kids will be getting bigger, they are 7 and 9 years old. All the bikes are inexpensive, so Im not worried about theft. My second key feature is the ease that the bikes go on and off the rack. Im not super concerned about accessing the back hatch. We travel for long distances, sometimes on dirt roads, so stability is important. My budget is about $300, but less is better. We plan to use the bike rack for 8 or so years, so quality is important. We also live near the ocean so rust inhibition is helpful, but not crucial, as we wont be leaving the rack on the vehicle. Let me know what you think!

For all of the specifications that you are looking for, I believe that a single arm rack with rotating cradles would be the best option, like the Swagman XP, # S64940. This rack is ultra-sturdy, has a good finish that can be kept up with a bit of spray paint and will allow you to carry 4 bikes with varying frame designs, by rotating the cradles, without the addition of adapter bars. This rack will store in minimal space and installs without tools utilizing a standard 5/8 inch hitch pin. Another plus is that it is well within your stated price range.
One drawback to this rack is it will need to be removed for access to the rear hatch.
