Recommended Bike Rack for a 2019 Ford F-250 with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch

Question:

Did a great job but I still have a question about this hitch. As for the hook that hold the front tire will it work wit a bike with fenders that are out about 8 inch from front post ?

For your 2019 Ford F-250, I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack part # BA22B which will do an excellent job with your two e-bikes. The Kuat NV 2.0 is one of the more quality, well made bike racks on the market. It has a wheel mount design so it won't be a problem with your lack of a horizontal frame tube and it has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity. The main reason however that I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 is because it has a one-piece 2" shank. The majority of bike racks have a 1-1/4" shank and then come with an adapter for 2" hitches. The problem with this is that if you were to try and use one of those on your F-250 with a 2-1/2", you would end up needing multiple adapters which can lead to a bunch of movement.

The Kuat NV 2.0 however will only require one adapter to work with your 2-1/2" receiver tube, the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # C45405. They do not make a bike rack that will fit directly into a 2-1/2" receiver tube which is why you would want to use one with a 2" shank and then an adapter. The Kuat NV 2.0 has a built-in anti-rattle device so there should not be much movement even with the adapter.

I do have an option for you but the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack part # BA22B nor can any wheel mount bike rack be used on a bike with fenders, even if the mounts are only placed 8" from the handlebar post because the hooks can then slip off and you will lose your bike. Instead, I recommend the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack part # HLY64FR with the Hollywood Racks Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # HRHA-2 which will work with your unique frame and fenders. It also has a one-piece 2" shank which will be needed for your 2-1/2" receiver tube. It has an 80 lb per bike weight capacity.
