Can 175/80-13 Trailer Tires be Replaced with 205/75-14 Trailer Tires

First, you should put the size tires and wheels on the trailer that the trailer manufactures states. This information can be found on a sticker or plate on the trailer frame. Sometimes, a larger size can be used if there is space around the tire for the larger size.

The next size up from 175/80-13 is going to be a 205/75-14. This tire will be almost 2 inches taller (1.9 inches) and about 1-3/16 inches wider. You will need to make sure that there is space above the tire and on the inside of the tire between the tire and trailer frame for the larger size.

A load range D tire is going to have a higher weight capacity than a load range B tire of the same size. However, that does not mean that you can carry more weight. The axle capacity remains the same. So, if the tires combined can hold 3,000 pounds but the axle is only rated for 2,500 pounds, you can only carry 2,500 pounds.

For a 205/75-14 tire with a wheel with 5 on 4-/2 bolt pattern, take a look at # AM32153. This is a load range C, the highest available in this size, rated for 1,925 pounds max at 60 psi. Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire.
