Will Rock Tamers Mudflap Heat Shield Protect Flaps from Melting
Question:
How well will the tamers work with our 2011 one ton dually duramax. We would install the heat sheild with it of course but still a little concerned about melting a flap as the exhaust points almost but not quite straight back. Is there a recommended clearance between the exhaust tip and flap??? Thanks in advance.

The angle of the arms that hold the flaps of the Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System # ERT00108 are adjustable so that you can add distance between the tail pipe and them as needed. If you install the heat shield part # RT76FR that you referenced though you will not have to worry at all about the flaps melting. The metal of this insulates the flaps from getting hot enough to melt even with diesel engines that have very hot exhaust.
