Is Hitch Height of B and W Patriot Slider Hitch a Major Concern When Towing

Question:

I am new to pulling 5th wheel campers. I really like this hitch but I noticed that it only has 3inch of height adjustment. My truck is a 2016 Ram 2500 and sits pretty high in the back. I havent purchased a trailer yet so I cant see how high or low it will be compared to my truck. How concerned should I be about this? A trailer that I am looking at is shown online with basically the same truck as mine hooked to it and it looks way too high in the front. Would this be more of an adjusting the trailer axles more than a lowering of the hitch issue?

Normally a great deal of height adjustment is not needed with fifth wheel hitches. There are some really well known hitches that don't offer any adjustment at all. The height range of the B and W Patriot part # BWRVK3270 is 17-19 inches which typically is all that's needed. Also you can adjust the height of the pin box on the trailer for further adjustment so additional height adjustment is available. Since you don't have a trailer yet and the fact that height range is pretty rarely an issue with newer trucks and trailers I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The correct install kit for your 2016 Ram 2500 is the part # BWRVK2602 that you referenced as well.
