Using Hitch Extender to Carry Dirt Bike on 2017 Ford F-150
Question:
I am trying to haul my atv and dirt bike without a trailer. I purchased an aluminum bike carrier that weighs 34 lbs and the bike weighs 230 for a total of 264lbs. I would need the extender to clear my tailgate as it has to be down for the atv to fit in the bed of the truck. The truck is a 2017 F150 3.5 with the tow package. Would this extender work?

The Curt Extender # C45796 that you referenced will work to clear the tailgate on your F-150 but it will also reduce the trailer hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. This will the case with any similar adapter.
For example, this means if the hitch on your F-150 has a tongue weight capacity of 600 pounds it will be reduced to 300 pounds when using the adapter. If the reduced capacity on your particular hitch is still sufficient to handle the 264 pounds of tongue weight from the carrier and bike then this will work and be safe.
With that being said, using an extender with this kind of weight is still going to create quite a bit of movement during travel and you're likely to see a decent drop on the hitch when everything's hooked up. You might consider removing the tailgate altogether if possible so the extra clearance isn't needed.
I have attached a couple short video demonstrations that you can check out as well.
