Can RV Air Conditioner Use Regular Thermostat

Can you hook up a regular thermostat on wall to rv air conditioner

Expert Reply:

An RV air conditioner does require the use of its own thermostat in order for you to control the temperature. For example, if you got the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - 15,000 Btu - Ducted - White # AT15028-22 it does come with its own thermostat that you would need to use. The reason being typical residential thermostats operate on a 24 Volts AC power source whereas RV thermostats operate on a 12 Volts DC power source.

I have added a link to a video review of our AC units as well as a link to our entire selection of air conditioners.
