Question:
I’m all ready to purchase the Saris Freedom 4, but have concerns about assembling it only to find that when folded, it makes contact with my rear bumper. I have a 2015 Toyota Venza with a Draw-Tite hitch. Previously, I had a Swagman XTC4 that only cleared by about .5”. Your specifications state only a 2” distance from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack, but I noticed in one of the QandA replies it was stated to be 6”. Which of these dimensions is correct?

According to the fine folks at Saris, when their # SA4414B Freedom 4 bike rack is folded up, the hitch pin hole to closest portion of the rack measurement is 10 inches. The rack has been updated a few times over the years, so this might be where the confusion comes in, but according to my Saris representative that dimension is indeed 10 inches.
If you use the link provided, you can see how to measure your current hitch to ensure you'll have clearance.
