Hi there, Just purchased this product ! Is it necessary to run a power cable to the battery, or can I just piggy back to any 12v I can find nearby the taillight ?, like the 12v cigarette lighter available in the cargo ? thank you !

Thanks for the purchase and that is a good question, but you must run the hot lead directly to the battery when installing a 4-way, which in your case is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56407.
The reason is this is the only way to ensure your car's wiring is not otherwise affected, and you can run the hot lead from your battery in any manner you see fit. To do this you may need Wire Loom, 10' Long # 7509-10 and Loom Clamp -1/4" # A0250.
