Boat Trailer Winch that Has Capacity for 18,000 lb Boat

Question:

I have a 38’ boat weighing 18,000 lb on a float on trailer. I had a hand winch that broke and want to replace it. What winch do you recommend ? When I haul I back the trailer in a few times and crank the boat on at the same time. I don’t get to do it in 1 pull so I can keep the boat straight in the trailer

With boat winches you generally only need 50 percent of the boats weight as the winch's weight capacity. So for a 18,000 lb boat like you have you'd need a winch with at least a 9,000 lb capacity. For that we have the Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500621 which has a 10,000 lb capacity and would be your best option.

The strap is only 15 feet long though so you'd need to make sure you could get the boat within 15 feet from being fully on the trailer.

We have the Fulton High Perfomance winch part # F142430 which covers most of what you are looking for as it's a 2 speed winch with a 3,700 lb capacity. It has to use a wire rope instead though.

For a 50 foot cable then we have the part # FWC7500100.

None of the 2 speed winches we offer with the capacity you need use a strap.

Question:

Ok what is the largest 2 speed hand winch with a strap ? I’m not pulling the boat up on the trailer. It is floated and secured with the winch.

That would be the Fulton 2 Speed Winch part # F142424 which has a 3,200 lb capacity and comes with a 20 foot strap.
