What Might Cause a Grease Cap to Keep Coming Off of the Hub Assembly On a Boat Trailer
Question:
On one side of my boat trailer the dust cap keeps coming off. It appears to that it is being forced from the inside, like maybe the end of the spindle??? Is the nut too loose?? What???

I would recommend to remove and reinstall the complete trailer hub assembly to make sure all of the parts are installed properly. I am including a link to a video of how to remove and reinstall a trailer hub on a boat trailer. This video will show you how to take off the hub assembly and how to properly put it back on and tighten the spindle nut.
The spindle nut on the end of the spindle should be held on with a cotter pin or tang washer. If the cotter pin or tang washer is missing that could allow the spindle nut to back off and it could pop the grease cap off. If the grease cap was not installed properly or is the wrong size , that could cause it to come off.
Also, make sure you are using the correct grease cap for your application. If you have an EZ lube spindle with a zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, make sure the cap is fitting over the zerk fitting or you have the grease cap with the rubber plug, like part # DC200L-DCRP, that is used on EZ lube spindles.
I hope these recommendations will help you with fixing the problem with your grease cap.
