Trailer Tail Lights Stop Working When Headlights on Jeep are Turned On
Question:
Hi, I recently purchased these lights as replacements for the ones on my trailer which I tow with a 2003 Jeep TJ. The lights work when the headlights are switched off. Both brake lights and signals work properly with headlights off. When I switch the headlights on the trailer lights no longer function at all. Ive tested the connection from the jeep with a 4-flat tester and it seems to be getting current from the vehicle. So, is there something Im missing or are these malfunctioning? Thanks!

It could be that the lights # TLL160RK are malfunctioning but since the problem only occurs when the headlights are switched on for your 2003 Jeep TJ I think there is either a faulty connection or ground. Have you tried testing the 4-Way flat on your Jeep with your headlights on? If you haven't done that yet see if that makes a difference. You can also try testing your trailer with a different vehicle to see if it gets the same results.
Start off by checking the connector on your Jeep and your trailer, making sure that they are clean and free of any corrosion or debris. If it looks clean then move on to your wiring and grounds. Make sure everything is connected securely, your wiring is in good shape, and your grounds are connected to a clean, bare-metal surface.
Let me know if you are still having issues and I can help you troubleshoot further.
