The Brophy Camper Tie Downs part # TDSF that you referenced are a fit for your 1988 Ford Ranger and will work well. We had a customer with a similar Ranger use these and they told us they worked great afterwards.
The hardware kit you'd also need to attach these to your camper is the # TDHP.
